Pietrasanta. DOCartoon, the drawing of reality is back.
The 3rd edition of the animated documentary film and non-fiction comics festival presents the premiere of “Couleur de peau: Miel” (Approved for adoption), a film by Laurent Boileau and Jung Henin.
This film won the audience award as best feature film at the festival of Annecy.

Screening of the film "La bimba col pugno chiuso" by the filmmakers Todomodo, about the story of the antifascist and partisan Giovanna Marturano, and the screening of "Prima la trama, poi il fondo" by Fulvio Wetzl and Laura Bagnoli, a film about the life of the painter Renata Pfeiffer.

Canadian Anijam, the collective work coordinated by animator and documentary filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns (author of Yellow Sticky Notes), including an animation that recalls the sinking of the Costa Crociera cruise liner.

"Nicaragua" comes back to light: the Sandinist revolution seen through the report drawn by Riccardo Mannelli, author of the official poster of DOCartoon 2013.
Furthermore the exhibitions: "Un fascio di bombe," drawn narration of the massacre of Piazza Fontana by Manara, Gomboli and Castelli;
the hot issue concerning the construction of the high-speed railway in Val di Susa with the illustrated investigation "Dossier Tav" by Claudio Calia.

The drawings by Maurizio Ribichini for the documentary film “La bimba col pugno chiuso” and the first exhibition ever dedicated to artist Enrico Bagnoli who died last year. Bonelli Editore will preview his last comic.



Born in 2011 in Pietrasanta, the first festival in the world primarily dedicated to the animated documentary and to non-fiction comics, created and directed by Thomas Martinelli, has been confirmed as a unique event on the international cultural scene.
The festival begins on Saturday, October 5th with the opening of the exhibitions dedicated to non-fiction comics, illustration and figurative art inspired by reality. The exhibitions are accessible until October 20th. Animated documentaries (including previews and premieres) will be screened from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th.
Other screenings and meetings for schools in the morning, cocktails, talks with directors, animators, cartoonists and writers about current and historical hot topics that will be dealt with by the movies and comic books shown during the festival. This year DOCartoon will focus on social and political issues such as: adoptions of foreign children, multi-ethnic integration, the relation between law and justice, the black plots and terrorism, but also the liberation movements and the "No Tav" protest.
